The 2024 Building Omaha cornhole tournament was one for the books. It was a record-breaking year, with the largest number of teams, the most money raised, and temps that soared.
Fifty-seven teams braved the 101+ temperatures to generate $10,300 for Bags of Fun. And the victorious duo, Will Fabian and Brad Glogowski who partnered to form The Resistance, showcased their supreme cornhole skills and took home the trophy for Building Omaha!
Giving back to the community that we live and raise our families in is central to Building Omaha. And it’s not a one-and-done event at the holidays; we look for ways to serve the Omaha area throughout the year, like the summer Bags for Bags cornhole tournament.
Building Omaha partners with Bags of Fun to host the annual event. Bags of Fun is a nonprofit that, like its name suggests, brings joy to children facing life-threatening diseases. It provides backpacks stuffed with games and toys and distributes them to pediatric patients who are undergoing cancer treatment, having transplant surgeries, battling heart disease, and more.
The organization has recently expanded its outreach to include mental health bags for children who have been discharged from inpatient care. The success of this year’s tournament means Bags of Fun can provide 41 mental health backpacks or 24 medical bags (cost for these is higher) for its children. Either way, some special children will have a backpack of entertainment and healing heading their way!
Thank you to all who participated in the cornhole tournament, players and spectators alike. It was a day of summer fun, community spirit, and rewarding service. We hope you join us next August to make the 2025 Building Omaha-Bags of Fun cornhole tournament even more successful!
