You know you want a rewarding, interesting, and lucrative career. Where do you start? With Building Omaha!
Building Omaha’s award-winning electrical education program blends experiential and classroom learning and is open to novice apprentices and seasoned journeymen alike.
Here is a breakdown of your path to a bright future within the electrical industry.
Let’s start at the beginning. We believe in learning by doing, which is why Building Omaha’s electrical apprenticeship program combines nationally recognized curriculum and classroom instruction with a hands-on approach. You will apply what you learn in class to actual workplace situations under the supervision of a journeyman electrician who most likely has been a Building Omaha apprentice as well.
Bonus! You’ll earn while you learn. As an apprentice, you’ll be a paid employee. And what will you learn? Wiring, electrical code compliance, safety protocols, and troubleshooting as well as best practices and industry standards.
After you complete the apprenticeship program, you will qualify to take the journeyman electricians’ exam. And you’ll pass, of course, because you will be very well prepared!
You are now in the next phase of your journey…
As a journeyman, you will work independently, though you will enjoy the safety net of a supervisor’s oversight on complex projects. There are numerous field specializations within the electrical industry. Building Omaha’s program offers options in residential wiring, commercial installations, and low-voltage systems. Finding a specific career path that aligns with your interests and aptitudes is easy!
Plus, as a Building Omaha journeyman electrician, you’ll have ample opportunities for continuing education so you can stay current on the latest technological and safety advancements and thus always in demand.
The electrical profession is fast-growing and dynamic, affording many options for specialization. For example, you can deepen your expertise with certifications in such concentrated fields at renewable energy, automation, and high-voltage systems.
