At Building Omaha, our work extends well beyond the jobsite. Sure, we power buildings, campuses, and infrastructure across the metro. And we’re proud of this contribution to the city. But we are equally proud of our commitment to powering our community itself.
Building Omaha is the partnership between IBEW Local 22 and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). Together, we believe showing up matters. Powering a city isn’t limited to wires and panels. It’s also about being present where people gather, celebrate, and connect.
And in Omaha, few places bring people together like Maverick hockey.
If you’ve seen us around Baxter Arena in the past, you might notice this year feels a little different.
Rather than tying our name to a single game, Building Omaha has stepped into a season-long partnership with UNO Athletics. It’s a more intentional approach designed to reach more fans, more often, and to stay visible throughout the entire season.
Because just like in our industry, consistency matters.

Our expanded partnership also means Building Omaha is showing up across multiple sports and events all year long. Fans will see and hear us in a few key ways:
We’re now part of the energy before the game, during the biggest moments, and long after the final buzzer.
Hockey and the electrical trades might seem worlds apart, but the foundations are surprisingly similar:
These are the same values we build into our apprenticeship programs and carry onto every jobsite. Whether it’s a power play or a power panel, success depends on skilled people working in sync.
This strengthened partnership extends Building Omaha’s presence in our hometown and increases chances for community conversations. Sports venues are where families, students, and future electricians already are. By showing up in these spaces, we create opportunities to talk about careers, training, and pathways into the electrical trades.
Community presence = real opportunity.
We’re grateful to UNO Athletics and the Maverick fan base for welcoming us into another exciting season. And we’re proud to keep supporting Omaha—on job sites, in arenas, and everywhere in between.
