We are passionate about the community in which we live & work. Since 2016, Building Omaha (NECA/IBEW) has proudly partnered with UNO Athletics.
Partnering with UNO Athletics was especially meaningful for our organization because union contractors and IBEW electricians worked on the construction of Baxter Arena, which is home to UNO sports.
In the past four years, we have sponsored basketball, volleyball, soccer, and hockey.
We are active supporters, attending games and participating in some fun activities. A few examples are dropping the first puck as the guest of honor to start the game, t-shirt tosses to the fans and giving away promotional items during the pregame.
Each season, Building Omaha is presenting sponsors for a designated game. Most recently, during the 2019-2020 season, we had a great evening at a UNO hockey game as the presenting sponsor.
We passed out themed keychain flashlights, stress ball hockey pucks (a fan favorite), and our newest interactive element: cornhole!
Cornhole was developed as a way to interact with the Maverick fans and also have them get to know us a little better! Did we mention the boards were also light up?!
We were also presented with a signed hockey stick in recognition as a valued partner to UNO Athletics.
In addition, we sponsored an Enter to Win contest, giving away four club seats to the game!
Now that Building Omaha is recognized as a staple of UNO Athletics, we enjoy interacting with the Omaha community while supporting a great organization. We’re passionate about building up our youth in the Omaha metro, and athletics is a key component in doing just that.
In addition to UNO Athletics, Baxter Arena & Building Omaha had another collaboration. Baxter Arena was the venue for the 1st annual Blue Collar Boxing event. According to United Way:
“Blue Collar Boxing is an exciting and competitive boxing event featuring local labor union members that raises money for our community.“
